ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Nil, so happy you are and welcome :)

You landed on my digital studio Fine Heart Work’s page, we will do exactly that together, Fine Heart Work. Heart centered practices that are honest and true to your heart, nothing else.

I’m a certified yoga and meditation teacher and a Meridian Yoga Therapy practitioner. My teaching is rooted in compassion, breath, and presence. I offer private sessions designed to meet you where you are. Whether you’re returning to movement, seeking relief from stress or discomfort, or ready to deepen your practice.

If you’re not satisfied with the short version above and want more info, here it is in long format:

I am Mediterranean, grew up in a town called Antalya. Back in the days when there were no yoga classes in my town in the mid-90s, I found a yoga book in a store and brought it home. I had no idea about yoga, and when I tried a few postures I was fascinated by how I felt when I put my body in those shapes. I taught myself the postures and started practicing them on and off for ages. I was the shy practitioner who only practiced at home until a good friend of mine asked me to go to a yoga class with him (thank you Jacob). I met my first teacher, and from the first class, I was hooked on in-studio practice. I was getting into the deeper philosophy of yoga and started seriously searching for answers. Why was it working the way it was working?

I decided to take my first yoga teacher training, which was 200 hours, and since then I have been a student of yoga and have been actively teaching. I have been studying with my yoga teacher Dr. Rose Erin Vaughan and have completed more than 700 hours of training with Science of Self Yoga. Now the total number is over 900 hours of training and this number continues to grow. At this point, I’m very close to losing track of the hours.

My meditation journey is a whole different story. Again in the 90s, my parents got into alternative medicine when it was still considered woo woo joo joo (I don’t know how woo woo joo joo spells, I hope this is okay) and they started getting into meditation. I was maybe 9 or 10 when my aunt-in-law guided us through my first meditation session and I loved the visualization aspect of it. A whole other world opened up in my mind.

Ages later, I met my teacher Hector Marcel during a yoga intensive I was taking from Science of Self Yoga. I really liked his style. He talked about mindfulness and how meditation can help our minds concentrate on what we want instead of letting it run like a wild horse. He was teaching online classes at Three Jewels Enlightenment Studio (thanks to COVID everything became online back then). I started taking his classes and became his student.

Since meeting Hector, I also got into Tibetan Buddhism and have been formally studying it for years. My teachings are deeply infused by it. I completed my Meditation Teacher Training in 2024, and since then I’ve been teaching meditation in my yoga classes and have established my self-practice as well.

In order to teach, we need to practice and have first-hand experience with what we’d like to share with the world. Happily, I can tell you that I only share what I practice, and I’ve been seeing how these methods have been changing people’s lives, including mine.

I’m truly excited to share these practices and help you create a sustainable path that will feel like a part of your life. Something you’ll practice with joy.

If you happen to still be reading, then it’s very clear that you are here for a reason. Let’s connect. We can figure out what you need to concentrate on and how it can serve you in the long run.

PS: These photos are from our previous visit to my hometown in 2024, and I really hope you can experience my hometown’s turquoise waters sometime. It’s magic.

Okay, let’s chat soon about your dreams, okay?

-Nil
